Core Value Kudos: GR Center for Mindfulness

By March 14, 2017Yoga2 min read

At the heart of the Funky Buddha are our Core Values – a deliberate and thoughtfully compiled list of ideals by which we operate, live, and create. Our Core Values permeate everything that we do and can be seen in everything from our employee policies to our class formats. Funky Buddha Core Values are at the center of both our student and staff culture. They provide a foundation on which to build excellence, and guide our continuing evolution.

A side benefit of being a business with intentionally formulated and strongly supported Core Values is an increased awareness of displays of excellence in the business community around us, and in Grand Rapids, there is excellence all around us.

This March we give Kudos to the Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness.

“Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness is dedicated to positively impacting individuals and corporations through research based (Quality & Professionalism) mindfulness and self-compassion (RICH Action) programs. We help children and adults learn tools to reduce stress, anxiety and depression, and mitigate the effects of chronic disease (Service First).” – The Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness

Earlier this month some of our Funky Buddha Staff was fortunate enough to attend a two-day intensive weekend presentation on Mindful Self Compassion, hosted by the Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness and facilitated by Dr. Kristen Neff (research scientist) & Dr. Christopher Germer (clinical psychologist) of the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion.

This excellent programming, which is offered in a more comprehensive 8-week format through Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness (GRCFM), is just one example of the amazing scientifically-based and skill-centric (Quality & Professionalism) programming that the GRCFM brings to the Grand Rapids community.

Not only is the programming curated by the GRCFM inherently in line with Funky Buddha Core Values (like all of them…seriously), their execution and student interaction is top notch – organized (Accessibility), professionally delivered (Quality & Professionalism), compassionate (RICH Action), and just ON IT. GRCM is committed to Accessibility through affordable program pricing and scholarship availability. The staff of GRCFM, led by co-owners Carol Hendershot and April Hadley, practice what they preach – they live the compassion and openness that their programming suggests, making Grand Rapids better one small act of kindness and one kick-ass seminar at a time.
