Not Yo’ Momma’s Stinky Yoga Clothes

Ever had to throw away your absolute favorite yoga wear due to MAJOR STINK, even after washing?? Here are a few tips we’ve learned along the way to keep your fitness wardrobe looking good and more importantly, stink-free. #fightthefunk #savetheyogapants

How to care for your yoga wear

  1. After a sweat session, hang your yoga clothes and towels to dry thoroughly. This helps to stop the growth of “stuff” on your clothes like nasty mold and mildew. Pro tip: Invest in one of these ‘over-the-door’ hangy thingies instead of throwing your sweaty clothes in the hamper. #geniusyoga wear
  2. Wash like items together. Separate your dry wicking fabrics from your cottons and turn items inside out for washing. Flipping your clothes inside out helps detergent get to work on the smelliest parts of your activewear AND keeps your precious leggings from getting snags on the outside. 😉
  3. Add 1-2 cups of white, distilled vinegar to your favorite laundry detergent. If you have a front load washing machine, add the vinegar to where the fabric softener goes.yoga wear
  4. Avoid the use of fabric softeners, heavy fragrances, and dryer sheets on your dry wicking items. Fabric softeners and yoga clothes are not meant to be. These items can coat your clothes with a film that traps in odors and inhibits them from wicking away moisture. Um EW.
  5. Pre-soak clothes in vinegar and water that seem to hold smell and consider washing your clothes in warm or hot water that smell extra funky.yoga wear
  6. Hang to dry your yoga wear after washing. Dryers take a heavy toll on your garments because the heat can wear away the elastic properties that your garments may contain, also weakening the material, which can lead to tears and holes. Not cool.
